acceptable use policy
effective 2026-08-03 · version 1.0.0
This policy is part of the crawlbrulee terms and conditions and applies to everything you do with the service. It exists to keep the service lawful, to protect the websites you access through it, and to meet the obligations we carry toward our own infrastructure partners.
If something you plan to do sits close to a line drawn here, ask us first: contact@crawlbrulee.com.
1. unlawful use
Do not use the service to break the law. This includes, without limitation, using it for or in connection with: fraud or deception; stalking, harassment, or intimidation of any person; unauthorized access to systems or accounts; distribution of malware or phishing; child sexual abuse material in any form; human trafficking or any other exploitation of persons; torture of, or serious cruelty to, people or animals, and material depicting or promoting either; theft or systematic misappropriation of intellectual property; or the acquisition of content whose collection or possession is itself illegal in your jurisdiction or the target's.
2. access circumvention
Do not use the service to:
- access content behind authentication, paywalls, or other access controls, unless the account used is yours or you have the authorization of the owner of that account;
- extract content through an account — even your own — by automated means where the terms governing that account or service prohibit automated access or collection;
- test, stuff, or otherwise abuse credentials;
- circumvent technological protection measures where the law prohibits it.
3. personal data
Where target pages contain personal data, you must have a lawful basis to collect and use it, as set out in the terms and the dpa. Regardless of lawful basis, you must not use the service to:
- build or feed databases whose purpose is profiling, locating, or monitoring identifiable individuals (people-search, surveillance, or dossier services);
- make the collection of special categories of personal data (GDPR art. 9 — for example health, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, biometric or genetic data) a systematic, targeted purpose of your scraping; the dpa (section 3) sets out when we can agree to this in writing.
Direct marketing sits on top of these rules. If you collect email addresses or phone numbers through the service, you may use them for marketing only where applicable direct-marketing law permits it — for EU/EEA individuals that generally means consent or an existing-customer relationship; other regimes, such as the US opt-out model, differ. Lawful lead enrichment and business-contact discovery are legitimate uses of the service; unlawful spam is a breach of this policy.
The paragraph above is orientation, not legal advice. You are solely responsible for the personal data of the contacts you collect — including lawful basis, required notices, and honoring opt-outs and suppression requests — as section 8 of the terms and the dpa set out. That we do not review, object to, or act against a particular use is neither acceptance of it nor permission for it, and is not a legal assessment.
4. prohibited purposes
Do not use the service, or data obtained through it, for:
- consumer credit decisions, tenant or employment screening, insurance eligibility, or any purpose regulated as consumer reporting;
- determining any person's eligibility for a government license or benefit;
- law-enforcement or intelligence purposes, or as evidence in criminal proceedings, except where we have agreed to it in writing in advance;
- making automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on individuals without the safeguards data protection law requires.
5. respect for target websites
- Do not direct request volumes at a target that are designed to — or that you should reasonably expect to — degrade or disrupt it.
- If a target website operator has explicitly and lawfully demanded that you stop accessing it, do not use the service to continue.
- Whether and how to honor a target's
robots.txtis your decision and your responsibility as the party directing the scraping. We reserve the right to enforce crawl politeness — including honoringrobots.txtand rate restraints — on accounts whose usage causes complaints or harm.
6. restricted targets
The following categories are restricted under crawlbrulee's own network-wide policy. We use one policy to prevent abuse, protect the service, our customers, and target websites, and maintain compatibility with restrictions that can apply across our upstream network. The list does not purport to reproduce every restriction imposed by every infrastructure partner.
The service may refuse these targets, and attempting to reach them repeatedly or deliberately is a violation of this policy. A stray, isolated request to a restricted category is not a violation; a pattern of them, or circumventing a refusal, is. The categories:
- banking, financial services, and cryptocurrency exchange portals;
- gambling and betting platforms;
- government websites and e-government services;
- app stores;
- ticketing platforms;
- streaming services and other DRM-protected media delivery;
- mailbox providers and webmail.
We may update this list because of law, security or abuse-prevention needs, operational risk, or restrictions that apply across our upstream network. The current version of this page is always the authoritative list. A change that must take effect immediately for one of those reasons may do so under section 12 of the terms. Otherwise, a change that materially reduces paid functionality follows the notice and termination mechanism in section 19 of the terms; section 5 of the terms governs any refund for the unused part of a prepaid period.
If your use case needs a restricted category and you believe it is legitimate, write to sales@crawlbrulee.com. We may consider a legitimate exception subject to our review, technical feasibility, and any applicable upstream restriction. No exception is promised, and we cannot grant one where law or an applicable upstream restriction prevents it.
7. no proxy resale
The service provides web data extraction, not network access. Do not tunnel arbitrary traffic through it, expose it (or its proxy capabilities) as a standalone proxy or network service, or resell access to it except as embedded functionality of your own product as permitted by the terms.
8. free tier
Do not create multiple free-tier organizations for one legal entity, register accounts by automated means, or rotate organizations or accounts to accumulate free credits.
9. enforcement
We aim to apply a measure proportionate to the problem: typically a warning where a warning suffices, then throttling, suspension of specific capabilities, or account termination. Where the violation is severe — unlawful use, harm to third parties, risk to the service, or an upstream partner requirement — we act immediately and without prior notice, as set out in the terms.
Repeated or deliberate attempts to reach restricted targets (section 6) are handled the same way.
Sustained usage that is disproportionately concentrated in resource-intensive operations is a commercial matter, not a violation of this policy. It is handled under the fair-use paragraph in section 4 of the terms — notice, plan limits or a custom plan, and a termination-with-refund route — not under this section, unless the same usage also breaches section 5 or threatens the service.
Subject to section 17 of the terms and to any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, we are not liable for damage resulting from enforcement measures taken in good faith. Suspension caused by your violation does not extend your billing period or entitle you to refunds or replacement credits.
10. reporting abuse
If you operate a website and believe it is being scraped abusively through our service, or you have any other abuse concern, write to abuse-reports@crawlbrulee.com. We read good-faith reports and act on the ones we can substantiate. Depending on the evidence and what our systems can identify, we may restrict an identified account or traffic pattern and may remove specific cached content early. We do not promise to attribute every historical request to a customer or to locate every cached item from a time range; unidentified content expires automatically under our retention schedule. We aim to reply to website operators who identify themselves and their site, though we cannot commit to a fixed response time or to answering every report we receive.
